Attack Prevention Vs Damage Mitigation
Most critical infrastructure programs, supported by significant investment, are focused on physical security measures. History has demonstrated, however, that physical security enhancements, while prudent in serving to diminish the effect of an attack, do not prevent attacks from occurring and significant loss of life and critical infrastructure damage still occur.
At Abraxas Applications, we are dedicated to effecting a paradigm shift in the methodologies traditionally applied to securing critical infrastructure and people – a shift from a philosophy of damage mitigation through increased physical security to a new and proactive approach of attack prevention through the identification and disruption of pre-attack planning and surveillance activities.
While Damage Mitigation Measures Are Prudent,
Attack Prevention Must Be The Objective |

DHS Establishes CFATS
(Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards)
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has released an interim final rule that imposes comprehensive federal security regulations for high-risk chemical facilities.
This rule establishes risk-based performance standards for the security of our nation’s chemical facilities, and requires covered facilities to prepare Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA), and develop and implement Site Security Plans (SSP) - which include measures that satisfy the identified risk-based performance standards (RBPS).
Abraxas Applications can provide critical SSP and SVA compliance support to affected organizations.
