Jack Reis, President
Mr. Reis has more than 30 years of senior executive level experience in the communications and information technology marketplace.
As the President of Abraxas Applications, Inc. he oversees the organizational development of the company and the market introduction of TrapWire, a critical infrastructure protection
software application. He is known for bringing pioneering security technologies to the marketplace while fostering
profitable corporate entities to support them. Prior to joining Abraxas Applications, Jack served as President of i2, Inc.
and previously held the position of Chairman and CEO of NFR, Incorporated. During his career, he has also held the top
executive position at several other public and private IT and telecommunications companies.
Jack is uniquely qualified to navigate the territory where law enforcement, intelligence, and commerce intersect, guiding companies toward enterprise solutions that are easily integrated into a larger security plan. His companies have helped clients in government and the private sector meet the growing need to secure data, facilities, critical infrastructure and personnel.
He holds a BS in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.
Dan Botsch, Vice President
Mr. Botsch oversees the operations activities of Abraxas Applications. In this capacity he is responsible for product research and development, product deployment activities, consulting and support services, and training. Dan has also been instrumental in developing strategic partnerships designed to grow the company's product offerings and expand its market reach. Before becoming Vice President, Dan was responsible for all elements of the TrapWire program.
Prior to joining Abraxas, Dan served 11 years as an Intelligence Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, focusing on Russian and Eastern European affairs. He also has experience in corporate security, having served as the Deputy Director of a Business Intelligence Group that monitored political, economic, security and market dynamics for a Global 100 energy company. Dan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business; a Masters degree in International Affairs from Boston University; and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Political Science from Bates College.
Michael Maness, International Business Development
As Senior Director, Mr. Maness is currently responsible for the international business development activities of Abraxas Applications. During the formation of the company he made important contributions to the development of the TrapWire rules engine and its unique, structured reporting formats. Additionally, he designed, developed, and now also teaches the Surveillance Awareness Workshop, and provides counterterrorism and surveillance expertise in support of TrapWire deployments.
Mike joined Abraxas following 20 years of service with the Central Intelligence Agency, where he directed counterterrorism and security operations in the Middle-East, the Balkans and Europe. As a senior operations officer and field operations manager, he was instrumental in combating Al-Qaeda's operational units in the immediate wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. He has also been recognized by the CIA for his work in Bosnia and Kosovo during the crises there. Fluent in several languages, Mike is a graduate of Texas State University where he was awarded degrees in International Relations and Foreign Languages.
Dan Johnson, Director, Business Development - US
As Senior Account Executive, Mr. Johnson is responsible for the state and local business development activities of Abraxas Applications.
Dan joined Abraxas Applications in September, 2007 after serving a progressive and distinguished career in state and local government. Most recently, he served as the Executive Director of Homeland Security for the State of Minnesota. In that capacity he was accountable to the Governor and the Executive Branch as the project manager for statewide homeland
security initiatives. His duties included responsibility for strategic planning, governance and organizational
development, as well as integration and coordination of initiatives related to homeland security across state agencies,
local, Tribal, and regional units of government, federal agencies in the region, funded Urban Area Security Initiative
(UASI) jurisdictions, Transit, Port, and Border security initiatives. He also served as Minnesota's liaison to the federal
Department of Homeland Security.
Dan graduated from the University of Minnesota with an Associate of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology, Sociology and Criminology prior to commencing a progressive 20-year career in local law enforcement. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and Management from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.
Michael K. Chang, Director of Operations
As Director of Operations, Mr. Chang is responsible for all Abraxas Applications training programs and TrapWire deployments. Prior to joining Abraxas in 2005, Mike served 12 years with the Central Intelligence Agency as a counterterrorism operations officer and security officer. He designed and implemented numerous, multifaceted counterterrorism operations and training programs and worked closely with various military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies across the globe.
He also served as an Assistant Team
Leader and Special Agent on the personal security detail of the Director and Deputy Director of Central
Intelligence. Mike has served as a senior instructor for various field training programs, including
Counterterrorism Operations, Protective Operations, and Surveillance Detection. He is also a CIA
certified firearms and weapons instructor. He has an M.A. in Forensic Science from George
Washington University and a B.S. in Administration of Justice from Pennsylvania State University.
Jeff Nielsen, Director of Engineering
As Director of Engineering, Mr. Nielsen is responsible for all aspects
of software development at Abraxas Applications, including the ongoing
evolution of TrapWire. Jeff has over 20 years of hands-on software
development expertise, and has extensive experience in building,
coaching, and managing high-performance, agile development teams.
Prior to joining Abraxas, Jeff served as Executive Vice President at
Stelligent, and Managing Director/Client Executive at Command
Information/Digital Focus. He pioneered Digital Focus's use of agile
methods in early 2001 and was the driving force in their establishment
as an industry-leading agile development consultancy. He has worked
with a number of different organizations to successfully improve their
software processes--from startups to multibillion-dollar international
firms. He brings to Abraxas a similar commitment to continually
improve productivity, attract/retain top programming talent, and
produce high-quality software that truly benefits our customers.
Jeff holds two Master's degrees from Virginia Tech in Computer Science
and Instructional Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Music from
Brigham Young University.
Paul Chadha, Director of Information Technology
As Director of Information Technology, Mr. Chadha manages Abraxas Applications’ corporate-wide
technology infrastructure, including the operation and maintenance of TrapWire Data Centers worldwide.
Paul is responsible for ensuring information security and high system availability to meet the demanding
requirements of our government and private sector clients. Paul is also responsible for overseeing all
Customer Service and Support technologies and on-site technical integration efforts for TrapWire deployments.
Paul has a decade of experience in the Information Technology arena and has led numerous efforts to overhaul
corporate networks in need of tighter security and added reliability. Paul currently holds the Certified Information
Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Ethical
Hacker (CEH) certifications.
Alicia C. Saia, Director of Product Marketing
As Director of Product Marketing, Ms. Saia is responsible for requirements analysis, competitive and industry research, and go-to-market planning for all Abraxas Applications solutions. She works closely with customers and internal teams such as account management, operations and product development to ensure that Abraxas solutions meet the needs of customers in our markets.
Alicia has nearly 20 years of experience in product marketing in the software industry, primarily focused on analytical decision-support solutions for a variety of markets including law enforcement, military, intelligence, government, healthcare, and Fortune 500 organizations. She joined Abraxas in July 2009 after spending over seven years with i2 Inc., where she developed and led a product marketing team responsible for the i2 visual investigative analysis applications in the Americas.
Alicia earned her M.B.A. degree at the Johns Hopkins University, where she focused on product development and marketing strategy. She received her B.A. with Distinction from the University of Virginia.
