Major upgrade introduces
new analytical, information sharing, and training resources to assist in
terrorist attack prevention
RESTON, Virginia / Abraxas Applications
is pleased to announce that version 4.0 of its flagship product, TrapWire®,
has been released to all domestic and international TrapWire customers.
TrapWire 4.0 includes a number of significant new
features designed to assist security directors and law enforcement officials
in protecting critical infrastructure and other high value targets by
contributing materially to the prevention of terrorist attacks. These
features include:
- A new dashboard-style home page providing the user with immediate access to
site-specific threat profiles, current intelligence information, and system
usage data
- New information sharing capabilities, including network-specific Bulletin
Boards, for distributing alerts and data regarding suspicious activity
reports;
- New analysis tools to help identify and monitor incident trends;
- Additional training resources to alert users to various types of terrorist
and criminal pre-attack behavior patterns.
TrapWire is a unique, state-of-the-art,
predictive system that was designed to detect patterns of surveillance and
pre-attack planning activity. TrapWire provides an easy to use, structured
information collection and analysis capability supported by a proprietary
rules engine which was designed by Abraxas personnel with extensive
experience in the areas of counter-terrorist operations and intelligence
collection practices. TrapWire was commercially introduced in 2007 and is deployed across a wide
range of public and private facilities with the active involvement of
federal and state and local law enforcement agencies. TrapWire and its
associated services can be purchased by U.S. federal, state, and local
agencies via the GSA Schedule (contract GS-35F-0501U).
Jack Reis, President of Abraxas
Applications said, “The threat of terrorism is real and we are reminded of
it virtually every day. Coincident with these heinous reminders, there
is growing recognition that to defeat terrorism and similar forms of
criminal activity, we must intercede when the perpetrators are most
vulnerable – during the pre-attack intelligence gathering and planning
processes. Since TrapWire was introduced in 2007, as a technology and a
methodology designed to exploit this vulnerability, our customer network has
grown substantially. As a result, it is important for us to continue to
implement new features to support the developing needs of our users as they
seek the tools to help them identify and disrupt pre-attack planning and
surveillance activities in an effort to prevent future attacks. We remain
committed to further application and services enhancements as our network
continues to grow.”
